Help Our City Sidewalks!
Hello neighbors of Wellington,
Summer is officially here and the plants are growing fast!
Please help us look after our sidewalks by removing any grass or weeds that grow between the cracks or over the tops of the panels. Our city’s sidewalks can be eroded more quickly by growing vegetation, and grass or weeds can create a safety hazard for folks using the sidewalk. So:
Please edge or trim back the grass along sidwealks so it doesn't touch the sides of the panels.
For plants in the cracks, if possible, please don't use herbicides, which can harm our city's ecosystem and water supply.
Either pull plants between panels by hand, or pour very hot water on top of them. This should kill any plants with shallow roots. If you see more greenery appearing, more hot water every few days til they are gone should do the trick. Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes to protect your feet!
Thank you so much for helping protect our community’s sidewalk investment, and keep our taxes low.
Also, please remember to water your new tree program trees every week this summer.
